Losing goals at the beginning and end of the game saw Queen’s Park B draw 2-2 at Albion Rovers with Lucas McCormick and Jamie Bradley scoring in-between for the Spiders.

The hosts made a terrific start as they forced a corner on the left just after the two-minute mark and when the set-piece was nodded back across goal at the back post Marcus Lavery was on hand to fire a volley past Same Kane from six yards.

The young Queen’s side looked to hit back quickly, and Max Fiddes turned and fired for goal on five minutes with his shot deflected just past with the striker heading just over 60 seconds later.

The hosts carved out a chance on seven minutes when Alex McCaw was released on the left with the striker firing inches wide of the far post with team-mate Paul Kennedy sending a shot over shortly afterwards.

Queen’s Park drew level on 25 minutes when Bradley played a ball down the left flank that pierced the home defence that McCORMICK took control of before galloping into the Rovers box and side-footing home from 16 yards.

Three minutes later the visitors led when a poor pass out of defence was picked up by BRADLEY who burst past two players before firing a shot low into a corner for a fine goal.

McCormick came close again nine minutes from the break when he picked up on good work from Trialist 1 and Fiddes to run towards the home goal with his low shot saved.

Four minutes into the restart Rovers’ experienced striker Michael Paton turned and fired just wide with Queen’s Park failing to add a third goal after a lightning break six minutes later.

McCormick travelled up the left wing and sent over a cross that Timam Scott got a touch to which gave Rocco Hickey-Fugaccia a great chance however the striker flashed his effort over.

Just after the hour mark it looked like Rocco had found the net with a delightful strike as he danced his way into the Coatbridge side’s box from the right wing and curled a shot to the far corner however at the very last minute the ball ran wide.

McCormick was denied by home goalkeeper Ross Connelly with 20 minutes left and as Queen’s looked to clinch a win Joseph Smith chipped across goal for Rocco who volleyed over.

With three minutes to go Kennedy swung over a free-kick from the right and Rovers defender Alan Reid, who has played against the Queen’s Park first team on many an occasion, was on hand to dive and head home.
