'They wrote it for him': Trump hit with pushback after 'admission' about Project 2025

Donald Trump went nuclear on Project 2025 at his rally on Saturday, going from saying he "knows nothing" about the plan to comparing its authors to the right's version of the "radical left," but the internet didn't let it slide.

Trump has consistently attempted to distance himself from the plan to overhaul the executive and judicial branches with MAGA loyalists, but went further than ever at his rally in Michigan over the weekend. Many of the plan's authors are associated with Trump, or served in the ex-president's administration.

"Like some on the right, the severe right, came up with this Project 2025 and I don't even know - some of them I know who they are - but they are very, very conservative," he said. "Just like you have, they are sort of the opposite of the radical left. You have the radical left and you have the radical right."

But the internet didn't let him get away with the move.

Law professor Jennifer Taub said, "Don't let him distance himself from the Trump Project 2025."

"They wrote it for him and he supports the policies."

Joe Biden's presidential campaign also weighed in, quoting Trump from Saturday and from his previous praise of Heritage Foundation, the group behind the controversial plan.

"Trump just now: I don’t know anything about Project 2025," the campaign wrote. "Also Trump: The Heritage Foundation is a great group and they’re going to lay the groundwork and detail plans for exactly what our movement will do in my second term."

@BidensWins wrote, "BREAKING: After claiming to know nobody involved in Project 2025, Trump is now saying he knows a few people involved in Project 2025."

"Trump is now admitting he will implement the draconian, anti-democracy Project 2025," the account wrote.
