Corvallis Police: Armed felon barricades himself inside garage in 5-hour standoff

A convicted felon, Jacob W. Jaeger, 27, was arrested after barricading himself in a garage and making threatening statements related to a pending jail sentence, and was charged with unlawfully using a weapon, unlawfully possessing a firearm, and possessing certain weapons as a felon.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A convicted felon faces charges after barricading himself inside a garage and “making threatening statements related to a pending jail sentence,” according to Corvallis police.

Authorities say a family living near 2050 NW Lance Way left their home and called police after an armed Jacob W. Jaeger, 27, began making the threats early Saturday morning.

Corvallis police created a perimeter around the house and called in a SWAT team to help bring Jaeger into custody. Meanwhile, neighbors were evacuated from their homes and the surrounding community was told to avoid the area.

An Oregon State Police negotiator was able to contact Jaeger, who peacefully surrendered to law enforcement around 1:20 p.m. He was uninjured.

Police brought Jaeger to Benton County Jail, where he faces charges of unlawfully using a weapon, unlawfully possessing a firearm, and possessing certain weapons as a felon.
