Crew suffers 2-1 loss to Atlanta, snaps six-game unbeaten streak

ATLANTA (WCMH) -- In the Crew's final game before the All-Star break and Leagues Cup, Columbus fell to Atlanta United FC, 2-1, on Saturday night at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, snapping a six-game undefeated streak.

Stian Gregersen scored both Atlanta United goals in the second half, finding the back of the net just 17 minutes apart. The go-ahead goal came in the 77th minute with a header redirected off a corner kick. The Atlanta win halts a five-game winless streak across all competitions.

Diego Rossi scored the opening goal for the Crew in the 36th minute, marking his ninth MLS goal and 12th across all competitions.

Goalkeeper Nicholas Hagen made four saves in the loss in his second straight start this season with usual starter Patrick Schulte currently on assignment with the U.S. men's national team preparing for the Paris Olympics.

The loss marks the Crew's first since falling to Miami on June 19. Now attention shifts to the MLS All-Star game taking place in Columbus next week. Five Crew players will play in the exhibition against the Liga MX All-Stars on July 24. Columbus will then host Aston Villa next Saturday in a Leagues Cup Showcase match.
