Fremont police investigate fatal shooting in Niles neighborhood

Man pronounced dead at the scene on Saturday afternoon.

A man was fatally shot Saturday afternoon in the Niles neighborhood of Fremont, according to Fremont police.

Responding to 911 calls from community members, officers rushed to the area of Blaisdell Way and Nichols Ave, near Mission Boulevard, at about 1:25 p.m. They found a man suffering from gunshot wounds and attempted life-saving efforts, but were unable to save the victim.

The victim’s name has not been released. The Fremont Department asks people to stay out of the area during their investigation.
