12 lakh excess deaths in Covid year, reveals report; govt says methodology flawed

Researchers, including those from Oxford University, analyzed data from the National Family Health Survey 2019-21 and estimated that nearly 12 lakh additional deaths occurred in India in 2020, which is eight times higher than the official Covid-19 death toll reported for that year.
