County boosts support for unhoused West Valley residents
The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors approved grant funding for Los Gatos to aid the town in its efforts to support its unhoused population.
The support from the county accompanies the $150,000 in funds that the town council approved in May to support local nonprofits in offerings like rental assistance and a food pantry. The town can decide how to use the funding to best address the community’s needs.
“The town is able to leverage its local taxpayer dollars with those of the county to tailor services to the unique needs of unhoused residents in Los Gatos,” Mayor Mary Badame said in a press release. “Together, we accomplish so much more.”
Live music in Los Gatos
This summer’s heatwave doesn’t mean Los Gatos residents need to stay indoors. The town has a variety of live music performances on the books for the rest of the season, all free of charge.
Jazz on the Plazz, a weekly concert at the town plaza park, has performances that continue through Aug. 21. The concerts take place every Wednesday, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Nicolas Bearde with Full Spectrum Jazz Orchestra takes the stage on July 31, followed by the Chris Cain Band on Aug. 7. More information is available at jazzontheplazz.com.
Los Gatos Music in the Park has a Sunday concert series from 5 to 7 p.m. on the Los Gatos Civic Center lawn. Next up are the Sam Chase Band on July 28 and the Country Cougars on Aug. 4.
