Curtis Bashaw talks Menendez verdict and upcoming presidential election

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey was found guilty Tuesday of 16 charges, including bribery, fraud and extortion. Following the announcement, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy called on Menendez to resign immediately.

As of right now, Menendez is running for the U.S. Senate seat against the Democratic nominee, U.S. Rep. Andy Kim, and the Republican nominee, Curtis Bashaw.

Bashaw sat down with PIX on Politics host Dan Mannarino and talked about Menendez and what should happen next.

"I think New Jersey wants to see him resign. The stench of corruption has been wafting around him many years now and it's time to move on," said Bashaw.

When asked about the 2024 Republican National Convention, Bashaw expressed his support for former President Donald Trump and said JD Vance will energize things for the Republican Party.

"I think the Republican Party has been unified all year. I think Donald Trump is the right choice this fall for the country to move forward. The Democrats are in chaos, they don't know what to do, and honestly the president can resign, Menendez can resign, I think the Republicans will do well regardless of who is running on the other side," said Bashaw.
