Body found in search for missing Brit last seen more than a week ago

The man went missing on July 11 after leaving his wife following an argument.

A body believed to be of a British man missing for more than a week has been found in Spain.

Steven Michael B, 48, went missing in Las Salas, in northern Spain, on July 11.

The body of an man has now been found in the church bell tower in the village.

Steven had been missing following an argument with his wife.

While his body is yet to be formally identified, the Mayor Manuel Valbuena, said evidence pointed towards it being the missing Brit.

After the autopsy results, police are expected to announce that his death is not being treated as a crime and no other suspects are involved.

The search for Steven started last Sunday and involved emergency teams out looking for him.

Authorities were worried after he left his wife in a garage following an argument and dumped personal belongings before abandoning his car.

Mountain experts from the Civil Guard’s Greim unit, the same type of team that searched for missing Jay Slater, searched for Steven.

They searched the banks of the Esla River, a tributary of the Duero River, along with mountain areas.

A British hiker was found dead in the Pyrenees in Spain last month days after he went missing on a mountain.

The 70-year-old man, from London, who has not been named, was reported missing in the western Pyrenees.

It sparked a search and rescue operation to locate him on the mountain range between France and Spain.

The alarm was raised after the authorities were contacted by Interpol’s UK office based in Manchester, with the co-ordinates of an electronic bracelet he was wearing, the BBC reported.

The Spanish Guardia Civil said the man was found by three members of the search and rescue team who alerted the air unit, which took him to a nearby mountain refuge.
