Trump becomes 'oldest nominee for president' in U.S. history as Joe Biden steps aside

Former President Donald Trump, 78, became the oldest presidential nominee in U.S. history after President Joe Biden decided to step aside.

After Biden announced that he would "stand down" from the race, CNN spoke to former lawmaker and political commentator Bakari Sellers about the decision.

The pundit pointed out that Vice President Kamala Harris would focus on choosing a running mate after meeting with Democratic delegates.

"I think a lot of people come on TV and really don't know the process, but you have to go out there and get these delegates," he explained. "My phone is blowing up with people who are pissed off."

"And the reason they're pissed off is because they feel like people from on high pushed Joe Biden out the door," Sellers continued. "And the text that I just got from a friend was like, if they push Joe Biden out the door, what are they going to do with Kamala Harris?"

Sellers, however, said that he didn't think getting Democratic delegates onboard would be difficult for Harris.

"She's running against the oldest nominee for president of the United States in American history," he pointed out. "And so when you have this type of change election, when you have this type of generational divide that you have, it's a question of whether or not you want to go backwards with Donald Trump or forward with Kamala Harris."

"I mean, the man is nearly 80 years old," he added. "And so the question is, can he serve another four years? I'm not sure he can."

GOP pollster Sarah Longwell simply said, "Donald Trump is too old to be President."
