Villa will make a £17m profit on a player they signed for a club record £43m from Bayer Leverkusen last summer — after winning a transfer battle with Al-Nassr

Diaby, 25, scored ten goals and provided nine assists last season across all competitions.

Unai Emery was not looking to move on the 11-cap star, but Villa could not turn down the huge offer.

Diaby started last season in Villa’s team but dropped out of their best XI due to Leon Bailey’s superb form.

Villa have re-signed Jaden Philogene, 22, from Hull for £12.6m but will target another forward.

Atletico Madrid exile Joao Felix on manager Emery’s wishlist as the manager looks to bolster his attack.

The Portuguese forward was once worth £101m after impressing at Benfica.

Atletico Madrid forked out the massive transfer fee for Felix back in 2019.

After three and a half seasons in Madrid, Felix found himself on the fringe of the team after a fallout with manager Diego Simeone.

As a result he joined Chelsea on a six-month loan and was loaned out again last season to Barcelona.

Everton ace Amadou Onana, 22, completed a medical yesterday.

Villa are paying a £50m fee for the Belgian international who will be confirmed  today by the Midlanders.

It takes their summer spending to £136.6m on seven signings.

Diaby’s £60m exit will mean the club have raised £130.75m in sales.
