Vees add national champion in Landon Wright
PENTICTON, B.C. – The Penticton Vees Junior Hockey Club is pleased to announce the signing of forward Landon Wright (’06) for the 2024-25 season, the team announced Sunday.
Wright spent the 2023-24 season with the Collingwood Blues in the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL), winning the Centennial Cup, the National Junior ‘A’ Championship. Wright is committed to the University of Maine.
“We know how difficult it is to win a championship, so when you can add a player that has won at this level, you are very fortunate,” began Vees President, General Manager, and Head Coach Fred Harbinson. “Landon understands what it takes to win at the junior level and will be a great addition to our strong forward group.”
Wright posted 41 points (18G, 23A) in 50 regular season games this past season, as he finished ninth in team scoring as a 17-year-old. In 19 playoff games he compiled 15 points (8G, 7A) as the Blues won their second consecutive OJHL championship. The Belleville, ON, product had six points (3G, 3A) in six games at the Centennial Cup, as the Blues went undefeated to capture the National Championship.
“Penticton has always been known for producing very high-end players and being a winning franchise. As I got to learn more about the program and how its run, I knew immediately that it was the place I wanted to be,” commented Wright.
The Vees organization is excited to welcome Landon and his family to the South Okanagan for the upcoming season.
