Trump trolled over cash he donated to Kamala Harris election campaign

Donald Trump was trolled by a Democratic congressman eager to remind the former president of his past support for his possible opponent in the race for the White House.

Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) posted an image of a $5,000 donation Trump made in 2011 to the campaign to re-elect Kamala Harris as attorney general of California.

“Was a wise investment,” the congressman wrote next to the image on X.

The image was also shared by Michael Steele, the former head of the Republican National Committee who is now an outspoken Trump critic.

"So when Trump wrote that check to re-elect Kamala Harris in 2011, I bet he didn’t think she’d cash it in 2024!" he wrote.

Kamala Harris was endorsed by President Joe Biden as he announced he was ending his campaign to be re-elected.

In 2020, Business Insider reported that Trump donated twice to Harris’ election campaigns before she became the Democratic Party’s vice-presidential nominee in 2020.

The report said he gave a total of $6,000, with a $1,000 check written in 2013 joining the $5,000 highlighted by Moskowitz.

Trump made both donations while a private citizen.

Harris reportedly gave the money away in 2015, with her spokesperson telling the Sacramento Bee that it was donated to a nonprofit group that helps Central Americans.

A Trump advisor at the time told PBS Newshour that he “donated to candidates across all aisles.”
