Louisiana Lawmakers react to President Biden dropping out of race

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) - Louisiana lawmakers are starting to react to President Biden dropping out of the 2024 Presidential race.

Republican Senator, Bill Cassidy said, “I’ve pointed out for two years that President Biden’s mental capacity has been declining. In that time, he’s thrown the country, the economy, and the Democratic party into total disarray. This decision is overdue.”

House Speaker and Louisiana Congressman, Mike Johnson said, “At this unprecedented juncture in American history, we must be clear about what just happened. The Democrat Party forced the Democrat nominee off the ballot, just over 100 days before the election. Having invalidated the votes of more than 14 million Americans who selected Joe Biden to be the Democrat nominee for president, the self-proclaimed ‘party of democracy’ has proven exactly the opposite."

State Sen. Blake Miguez (R-New Iberia) said, "While Joe Biden’s withdrawal is significant, our focus remains on the policies that will shape America’s future. We continue to stand for strong border security, strong support for our military, fiscal responsibility, and the protection of life and Second Amendment rights - sharp contrasts to the agendas pushed by the liberal left. This election is a pivotal moment to secure a prosperous, safe, and free America for all. Let’s choose a path that upholds our conservative values and rejects the failed policies of Biden, Harris and the Democratic Party!"
