Arsenal make new transfer offer for Premier League goalkeeper but refuse to pay £1m asking price

ARSENAL have made a new bid for Wolves keeper Dan Bentley — and hope to clinch the deal.

The Gunners are now talking about a move building up to £300,000 for the former Brentford and Bristol City stopper.

Daniel Bentley of Wolves is wanted by the Gunners

They have been chasing the 31-year-old for weeks — as SunSport revealed.

Wolves want £1million but the clubs are now closer to finding a compromise.

Bentley is behind Jose Sa in the pecking order and made just five Premier League appearances last season.

And coach Gary O’Neil is in the market for a new reserve — although he missed out on Kasper Schmeichel, 37, who opted for Celtic.

Bentley may fancy the Arsenal move even if it is to be THIRD choice as Aaron Ramsdale is priced at £50million and unlikely to find a taker.

The ex-Gunners academy star left the club aged 15, joining Southend in 2009.

He later joined Brentford and Bristol City before signing for Wolves in January 2023.

Bentley has since provided cover for Sa, making just nine appearances in 18 months at Molineux.

However, he has kept three clean sheets across those matches and played 67 minutes against Arsenal in December last year.

As well as Raya and Ramsdale, Mikel Arteta also has Estonia international Karl Hein amongst his options.

However, they released Arthur Okonkwo on a free who joined Wrexham, following a successful loan.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have also announced the signing of 18-year-old Ajax keeper Tommy Setford.

He cost just under £1million.
