F1 driver Oscar Piastri came out on top this weekend at the 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday (July 21) in Budapest, Hungary.

The 23-year-old Australian driver is currently the youngest person on the grid in 2024, and just picked up his very first win in his second season in Formula 1!

Coming in second place was Oscar‘s teammate Lando Norris, and with their 1-2 placements, their team, McLaren, gained enough points to move up in the constructor standings to second place with 338 total points. Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton was the third place finisher this weekend.

“First Grand Prix Win. Incredible ????” Oscar wrote on Instagram in one post, adding with another, “Moments that will last forever, still hasn’t quite sunk in”

“I dreamt of this day as a little kid back in Australia. A truly unbelievable feeling. Thank you to everyone who has helped and supported me and thanks to the team for this opportunity and all their hard work. Such a special day ????” he added in another post a little later.

“[It's] very, very special,” Oscar said, via Formula1.com. “This is really the day I dreamed of as a kid, standing on the top step of an F1 podium. Obviously a bit complicated at the end but I put myself in the right position at the start, and thank you to the team for an amazing effort, and amazing car. It’s a hell of a lot of fun racing for McLaren so I can’t thank them enough for giving me the opportunity to be in F1, and to be able to win together 18 months in is an incredible feeling.”

It has been a big year for McLaren, with Lando Norris also picked up his first Formula 1 win back in May!
