Flight attendant reveals the ‘worst kind’ of passengers that put others’ safety at risk

A FLIGHT attendant has revealed the “worst kind” of passenger that puts others’ safety at risk.

Veteran cabin crew member Heather Poole revealed one specific behaviour can put others’ lives at risk.

Heather claimed passengers who scramble to get up so they can check on their luggage as soon as possible were the “worst kind”.

She told CNN: “What’s worse are passengers who decide to stand up and get into overhead bins that are full of heavy luggage as soon as the seat belt sign turns on.”

It doesn’t just put those doing it at risk, but could harm those around them too if the plane was to be hit by turbulence.

“Now, instead of just putting themselves at risk, they’ve included whoever else is seated nearby,” she added.

“It’s because of this kind of behaviour that one captain I know seldom turns the sign off.

“He claims he doesn’t always know when it’s going to be choppy, and he believes it’s too crowded in the aisles to keep it off.”

Ms Poole also expressed her dismay at passengers who ordered a certain type of drink when there was a risk of turbulence.

She said: “Why so many passengers order hot beverages when it’s bumpy is beyond me. I’m not taking it back if the turbulence gets worse.”

Meanwhile a flight attendant has revealed why passengers should always bring their own food on the plane.

The inside information was shared by Sean Price – a part-time flight attendant and academic program manager for the Flight Services program at Seneca Polytechnic.

He explained how passengers may not be able to buy food during the flight.

Sean advised bringing non-liquid snacks and an empty water bottle for if there is turbulence.

Although bottles with liquid in them aren’t allowed most airports have refillable systems.

“So make sure you fill up that water bottle on the plane just in case if turbulence is so severe that we’re not able to come out and give you a beverage,” he told CTVNews.ca.
