Democrats are rallying around Harris as she vows to 'earn and win' party nomination for president

Democrats are quickly rallying around Vice President Kamala Harris as their likely presidential nominee after President Joe Biden’s ground-shaking decision to bow out of the 2024 race. Biden endorsed Harris, as did Bill and Hillary Clinton and others, including prominent governors and the Congressional Black Caucus. But the fast-moving situation remains politically volatile four months before the November election. Democrats face the task of rearranging the top of their ticket before the party’s nominating convention begins Aug. 19. Former President Barack Obama and Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi have not explicitly endorsed Harris. Harris says she intends to “earn and win” the nomination.
