Jury selection begins in fatal 2022 Sheetz parking lot shooting

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- Jury selection is scheduled to begin Monday for one of three men charged in the fatal shooting of a Youngstown State University student outside a northeast Columbus Sheetz store in October 2022.

Keimariyon Ross, 20, is facing two counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder, three counts of felonious assault -- all with handgun specifications -- and one count of improper handling of a firearm.

Ross will be the first of the three suspects to head to trial. Tyyaun Sullivan pleaded guilty in August 2023 to two of eight charges against him. He was sentenced to 9-10½ years in prison – two concurrent sentences of 3-4½ years for felonious assault and two 3-year gun specification sentences to run consecutively.

The third suspect, Tommie Wilkerson, is facing four felonious assault charges with firearm specifications; he is currently scheduled to head to trial on Sept. 30.

According to police, Kevin Sobnosky, a valedictorian at Girard High School and a member of the dean’s list at Youngstown State University, was visiting Columbus with three other men when they were caught in crossfire at a Sheetz gas station on the 1400 block of North Cassady Avenue during the early hours of Oct. 30, 2022. Sobnosky was shot when the car he was in was hit with gunfire; he was pronounced dead at the hospital later that day.
