Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya Thanks BCCI For Supporting Indian Contingent At Paris Olympics 2024

New Delhi: Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, thanked BCCI secretary Jay Shah for showing his support towards the Indian athletes competing at the Paris Olympics, starting later this week. Shah on Sunday announced a financial assistance of Rs 8.5 crores to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

“I thank @BCCI for their strong support of our Indian contingent at #ParisOlympics2024. We are proud of every athlete representing our nation. May they shine brightly! The entire nation is cheering for our athletes. #Cheer4Bharat,” wrote Mandaviya on his ‘X’ account.

“I am proud to announce that the @BCCI will be supporting our incredible athletes representing #India at the 2024 Paris Olympics. We are providing INR 8.5 Crores to the IOA for the campaign,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah wrote on his ‘X’ account. “To our entire contingent, we wish you the very best. Make India proud! Jai Hind!” As many as 117 athletes will represent India at the Paris Olympics. There will also be 140-strong support staff, making it a 257-member contingent.

Notably, 24 personnel from the armed forces, including ace javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra and two women participants, are among the 117 Indian athletes who are set to test their mettle at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The presence of these two women athletes in the contingent, marks the maiden participation of female service athletes at the Olympics, the ministry of defence in a statement on Saturday. Chopra, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics gold medallist, is a subedar in the Indian Army.
