The leader of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) has stated that the recent protests in Frankfurt, which resulted in an attack on the Pakistani consulate, were deliberately escalated to violence by some individuals.

Manzoor Pashteen, without naming specific individuals or groups, has called for the arrest of those responsible for the violence.

In a post on X on Sunday, July 21, Pashteen stated, “Certain trained individuals, following a plan, resorted to violence to create a negative image of peaceful movements.”

On Saturday, protesters stormed the Pakistani consulate in Frankfurt, taking down the country’s flag, setting it on fire, and breaking the building’s windows with stones.

The demonstration was held by some Afghan residents in Germany and the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement in response to the killing of Gilaman Wazir, a member of the PTM.

Protesters chanted slogans such as “Stop the killing of Pashtuns,” “Death to Pakistan,” and “Pakistan is in the hands of the military” in front of the Pakistani consulate in Frankfurt.

Several Pakistani media outlets have attributed the incident to Afghans, claiming that “at least 8 to 10 Afghans played a direct role in the attack on the consulate and the removal of its flag.”

Following the protests, Pakistan’s Information Minister announced that the passports and identity cards of Pakistani citizens involved in the attack on the Frankfurt consulate would be revoked.

The incident highlights escalating tensions between the PTM and Pakistani authorities, with violence at protests increasingly becoming a focal point.

The Pakistani government’s response underscores the serious diplomatic and security concerns triggered by such actions. The broader implications of these protests reveal growing frustration and unresolved issues that continue to strain regional relations and impact diplomatic engagements.
