The homeowner shared the Amazon item she swears by for keeping the insects out of her space, even when her doors are wide open.

She recommended the buy in the Facebook group FAMILY LOWDOWN TIPS & IDEAS after another user asked for pest control recommendations.

“I [would] have my door open all day and used to get loads of flies in,” she responded.

Wanting to make the enjoy a refreshing breeze without being inundated with insects, she found a simple solution online.

The commenter revealed that she found “butcher’s chains have made a massive difference.”

She praised the chain curtains even further, saying she “barely gets any [flies] in now.”

According to the homeowner, she has only noticed “an odd one through the window” since hanging the chains.

“[I’ve] had it up a couple of months now,” she told her fellow Facebook users.

Kuou String Door Curtains are currently available for £7.99 from Amazon.

According to the manufacturers, the chains prevent “flies, bees, and moths” from entering your home.

They can also be used to block light and heat while “maintaing indoor air circulation.”

The curtains’ colorful appearance also helps to “emit a sparkle effect” in the sunlight and breeze, reports Kuou.

This reflective effect may also help to further deter bugs from your space.

The experts at Pest Exterminators Essex explained the science behind flies and reflective rays.

“Flies have compound eyes which are extremely sensitive to light,” they said.

As well as repelling insects, the chains ensure sunlight still enters your room without overheating the space.

Why do flies come out in summer?

Flies are present all year round, but all of a sudden when summer comes, they are just EVERYWHERE!

The main contributing factors are the breeding cycle of flies and the soaring temperatures.

Insects are cold blooded and in summer, when their body temperature rises from the external heat, they become more active.

The hotter weather also let’s them seek out cool moist spots, like inside your home, to escape from the sweltering heat and to lay their eggs.

House Fly eggs take around 20 hours to hatch, but when the temperature rises above 37 degrees, can hatch within 8 hours!

In extreme hot weather the eggs can mature from larvae to adult fly in as little as four days.

The average lifespan of a housefly is 21 days, so each female can lay up to 900 eggs during the summer months!

The lightweight chains can be fitted to any doorway and are designed for easy installation.

As opposed to screen doors, it also allows for easy access to the home for your pets.

Parents with young children are advised to supervise their tots around the chains as they pose a potential choking risk.

Preventing flies from entering through open doors and windows can significantly reduce the amount of insects in your home.

According to the experts at Pest Exterminators Essex, 90% of your fly problems will be solved by tackling their entrance through open doors and windows.
