Cooler temps sticking around in Portland metro area

As we start a new week, it's all about 'cooler' temperatures.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Following an active weather day across our region on Sunday and very stormy morning here in PDX, the thunderstorm threat has now faded across our region.

As we start a new week, it's all about cooler temperatures.

If you are ready for more seasonable temps, you're in luck! For this upcoming workweek, afternoons highs in the valley will look to hover around the low to mid-80s, while the coast is expecting to stick in the 60s.

Monday's forecast calls for morning clouds with afternoon sun breaks as we enjoy a daytime high in the upper 70s or low 80s around the greater Portland area.

Monday and Tuesday look to be the cloudiest days over the next seven. While we also get a nice drop in our overnight lows as well -- with those temps hanging out in the mid-50s for the week.

Much of eastern and south-central/eastern Oregon will continue to experience heat and fire danger as active weather and thunderstorms brew Monday afternoon. We'll also see heavy wildfire smoke across Malheur and Harney counties through tonight with lots of high-level haze. Temps will remain hot east of the mountains with temps mainly in the 90s and low 100s.
