Williamsburg Townhouse

Williamsburg Townhouse is a minimalist townhome located in Brooklyn, New York, designed by Home Studios. The design features reclaimed wide plank wood floors, textured walls, and minimal architectural ornamentation, allowing the family to imbue the space with their personal story. Inspiration is drawn from the warmth of French farmhouses and New York’s historical Art Deco motifs, seamlessly integrating vintage heirlooms with handcrafted furniture and eclectic details. The comprehensive renovation encompasses all three floors, a courtyard, and an outbuilding. The upstairs evokes European country houses, while the downstairs channels the sophisticated charm of vintage New York hotel lobbies. Exposed wooden beams highlight the building’s craftsmanship and history.

The outdoor area includes a patio and outbuilding with a screening room, hot tub, and custom pizza oven, enhancing family gatherings. Two kitchens were created at the client’s request—one for entertaining on the first floor, featuring ceramic lighting, Lacanche ranges, stone counters, and steel and glass glazing. The first floor offers three sitting areas around a wood-burning stove, promoting comfort with pieces like the Camaleonda sofa, Kropacek armchairs, Gae Aulenti 54-S1 chairs, copper Drummonds bathtub, and Tapiovaara dining chairs. Custom designs are integrated throughout, including a travertine and lacquer coffee table, a walnut and linen floor lamp, a curved concrete wall around the wood stove, and lacquered wall units. The space also features contemporary design pieces by Sunfish NYC, Minjae Kim, Barbora Zailinskaite, Thomas Barger, and Ceri Muller, among others, with modern art curated by Oliver Haslegrave.
