Love Island couple ‘using each other to get to the final’ despite blazing onscreen row claim fans

LOVE Island fans have become suspicious that one couple is only staying together to make it to the final after ITV aired a clip of them arguing.

Joey Essex and Jessy Potts got together when she came in as a bombshell and he decided to leave his ex Grace.

So far he has stayed faithful to her, but the couple encountered some friction when new girl Lolly entered the villa and set her sights on him.

The TOWIE star has a reputation for being a bit of a flirt, and wasted no time in hinting that Lolly could turn his head.

Some of Joey’s actions were exposed during the grafties last night, and this has caused problems between him and Jessy.

It set off a larger conversation about Jessy’s issues with her man, and they could be seen having a screaming row by the firepit as she pulled him up for causing drama in other islander’s relationships.

In the preview clip, she angrily said: “Saying there’s a ‘secret mission‘, and then not exposing the ‘secret mission’, doesn’t mean you kept the secret. It means you still exposed it.”

Joey retorted: “The secret was going to come out, I didn’t expose it.”

“You did expose a secret. You did,” she disagreed.

The argument began to escalate as Joey started talking over Jessy as she attempted to explain her point, and she began to raise her voice to be heard.

At one point their castmates could be seen listening in as her shouts echoed across the villa.

Josh exclaimed, “Now he’s not only messing up my thing, he’s messing up his thing!”

After seeing how furious the couple are with each other, viewers began to wonder if they are only keeping their relationship alive for the cameras.

Taking to social media, one person speculated: “Joey does not like Jessy; he just thinks it’s part of his islander story to be with her and sees her as a way to the final.”

Another agreed, adding: “If Joey doesn’t switch I think it’s just strategic to get to the final at this point cos 2 weeks ago him and Jessy would’ve already been over in this scenario.”

Someone else suggested that Jessy might be thinking the same thing, saying: “Jessy actually believes sticking with Joey will get her to the final.”

A fourth groaned: “Joey’s fake ass just sailing to the final coz he’s game plan is to stick to Jessy and y’all eat it up.”

Love Island series 11 - feuds in the villa

No edition of Love Island is complete without its fair share of drama - and series 11 is no different. Here's a look at some of the most fiery feuds so far.

  • Joey Essex & Samantha Kenny: Samantha entered the villa on Day 1 and was initially coupled with Sam Taylor. However, Samantha was ‘stolen’ by Joey, the first bombshell of series 11. She was ‘dumped’ on Day 16 – with the make-up artist saying she had been brutally snubbed by Joey in the villa – although it never made it to air.
  • Matilda Draper & Jess White: While Matilda arrived as a bombshell on Day 12, Jess was part of the original line-up. The two clashed in Casa Amor, over Jess’ frustration that Matilda was talking to new hunk Hugo Godfroy – who Jess previously snogged.
  • Harriet Blackmore & Jess White: The two women were caught up in a love triangle for much of their time on the programme. The pair were fighting over Ronnie Vint, 27, from Greenwich, who wound up being dumped alongside Harriett.
