LAGOS EDUCATION DISTRICT III REWARDS OUTSTANDING STAFF

Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary (TGPS), Education District III, Dr. (Mrs.) Idowu Olufunke Oyetola has celebrated the teachers and staff of the District for their excellence, outstanding achievements as well as significant contributions to the teaching profession in Lagos state.

Oyetola made this known at the 20th Annual Merit Award and Honours Day ceremony for the outstanding staff of the Lagos State Education District III held recently at the Lagos State Model College, Badore with the theme: “Teachers as Superheroes; Integrating and Innovating the Future of 21st Century Quality Education”.

The Permanent Secretary stated that the event was to highlight the remarkable talents, dedication and hard work of individuals who had gone above and beyond in their respective areas, and not just their successes but also their passion and perseverance.

She added that teachers shape the minds and hearts of the students, instil values and inspire dreams, and that teachers are the beacon of light that guide through the tunnel of ignorance to the brightness of knowledge and enlightenment.

Dr. Oyetola appreciated the Governor of Lagos State and the Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education for their vision and unwavering support, stating that huge investments in the Education sector of the State had created a dynamic learning environment that inspires creativity and innovation among students and teachers.

She praised the Sanwo-Olu administration for providing housing units for teachers in schools located in remote areas in Imota and Agbowa in Epe LGA. She also lauded the teachers in the District for their overarching commitment in the 2023 academic session, stating that selecting the recipients of the awards was a daunting task as all the teachers were outstanding.

Dr. Oyetola, however, encouraged the teachers who did not win any prize not to relent in their efforts or rest on their oars as continuous improvement is the key to lasting success, reminding them that they are the builders of dreams, the bearers of knowledge and the guardians of our future.

The award for the Best Principal in the senior secondary school category went to Umar Ajikobi Azumi Ajoke of Lagos State Model Senior College, Badore, Ajah while the junior secondary school category award went to Atete Daye Bisola Titilayo of Elemoro Community Junior High School, Ibeju Lekki.

The award for Best Teacher in the senior secondary school category was given to Mr Kassim Yusuf Adegboyega, Epe Girls Senior High School, Epe. Popoola Tosin Rebecca of Temu Community Junior High School won the award in the junior secondary school category.

The awards for the Best School in the senior and junior secondary school categories were given to Lagos State Model Senior College, Agbowa, and Elemoro Community Junior High School Ibeju-Lekki respectively.

Dignitaries present at the event included the Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government Engr. Abdullai Olowa; Guest Speaker Dr. Olumuyiwa Viatonu (Associate Professor LASUED); Permanent Secretary, TESCOM, Mrs. Iyabo Seriki-Bello; Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District IV, Prince Olusegun Osinaike; HRM Oba Hafeez Olakunle Badiru, Elejigbo of Langbasa; Olu of Sangotedo, HRM Akorede Olufunmi; Dr. (Mrs.) Abiose Ayandele, immediate TG/PS Education District III and representatives of Vcare for Development Foundation among others.
