Kim Cattrall Gave a Swift Response About Samantha’s Future in 'And Just Like That'

As fans of And Just Like That are well aware, Kim Cattrall‘s Samantha made her long-awaited yet brief return to the Sex and the City world at the end of season 2. But while the scene might’ve had longtime fans at the edge of their seats, it’s safe to say it left fans begging for more.

So, with the filming of season 3 well underway, speculation about another one of Cattrall’s cameos (or perhaps her full-on return) had been higher than ever.

Earlier this month, Life & Style even reported that production was doing everything they could to bring Cattrall back to the show.

“Since they’ve paved the way for Samantha to come back, it’s assumed that they’ve done a deal with Kim and they’re just waiting for the right time to announce it,” an insider told the outlet. “The word is that she’ll get to do all her scenes in London. They’ll be bending over backwards to pay her an absolute fortune, and it’s all on her terms because she’s so central to the franchise.”

According to this source, even Cattrall’s former castmates Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon were all on board. “Everyone, including Sarah, has had to accept that this was necessary,” the source continued.

With that said, Cattrall’s return wouldn’t necessarily mean all the cast members would back to being friends. “However, the rivals and lack of forgiveness is still there as far as Kim’s concerned,” the source added. “She doesn’t do fake friendships, she’s not going to sit around and pretend to be best friends with Sarah, even if she does take the paycheck.”

“It’s still open as to whether she’ll even film any scenes with the other women, but certainly she doesn’t want to break bread with them off camera and pretend like nothing ever happened,” they noted.

But, despite all the speculation around Cattrall’s return, the Glamorous star recently denied all the rumors in a swift and simple tweet. “Aw that’s so kind but I’m not,” Cattrall wrote on X in response to an Elle article with Life & Style‘s quotes.

So whether there was some persistence from the show to have her back or not, it seemed Cattrall isn’t stepping into Samantha’s shoes anytime soon. Maybe the paycheck wasn’t big enough? We might never know!
