JFK's Grandson Jack Schlossberg Might Be the Biggest Star To Emerge in 2024 Presidential Campaign
In the wake of President Joe Biden withdrawing from the 2024 presidential election, a new star has emerged — and we aren’t talking about Vice President Kamala Harris. She’s going to shine at the Democratic National Convention in August as the presumptive nominee, but a new political voice has emerged from the shadows… actually from the internet.
Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of John F. Kennedy Jr. and the son of Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, has become a voice for Gen Z — even though he’s a younger Millennial himself. The Harvard Law and Business School graduate has become a TikTok sensation not only for his musical theatre antics and paddle-boarding adventures, but for also breaking down the political scene into layman’s terms for many voters who will be casting their ballot for the first time in 2024.
“I am inspired by my family’s legacy of public service,” he told Vogue earlier this month. “I take that very seriously, and I want to contribute in my own way. I have big dreams, but I also know that I’m trying to make a positive impact today.” Not only did the 31-year-old get a glossy feature in the fashion magazine, but he was announced as their political correspondent for this election cycle. Vogue editor Chloe Malle told The New York Times in a statement why Schlossberg was a natural fit for their election-year coverage. “Jack emerged as a staff favorite early on in this election cycle with his irreverent but intelligent takes on the political landscape,” she wrote. “We all know the stakes of this election and it is critical to Vogue that we do all we can to get our audience motivated to vote.”
And Vogue wasn’t wrong with their assessment because X users were quick with the memes after Joe Biden announced his exit from the race. “jack schlossberg having the craziest new hire probation period rn,” wrote one social media user. Another added with a photo of Carrie Bradshaw drinking a Cosmopolitan, and as Sex and the City fans know, she’s a fictional alum of Vogue, “jack schlossberg working on a different vogue article as we speak.” Of course, there is the athletic side to Schlossberg, and very reminiscent of his late uncle, John F. Kennedy Jr., “The way Jack Schlossberg had to evacuate his kayak just now so that he could write a Vogue post about this,” another humorous post noted.
So, look for Schlossberg to be a voice for young Democrats, who are trying to navigate their way through an election cycle that is anything but normal. Schlossberg is quirky, but he’s doing it in a way that is authentically him.
