'Maddening!' Lauren Boebert blows up at Secret Service hearing

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) raged at Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle Monday and argued that the assassination of former President Donald Trump would mean "oblivion" for the United States.

While being questioned by Boebert at a House Oversight Committee hearing on Monday, Cheatle confirmed that she had personally apologized to Trump for the assassination attempt.

But Boebert demanded to know if Secret Service agents were "given an order to hold fire" before the shooting.

"There was no order to hold fire," Cheatle explained. "Our agents and officers have the ability to neutralize a threat at the time."

"President Trump was shot," Boebert said. "I find this rather maddening, especially now knowing that you do have answers from the FBI, who you have been passing the buck to this entire hearing, not answering a congressional hearing, members of Congress, while you are under oath and under a subpoena."

"I find it maddening that the director, that our country has come centimeters away from oblivion under your watch," she ranted. "This entire thing is a waste of time!"

The Colorado lawmaker insisted that Cheatle needed to resign or be fired.

"I cannot tolerate your watch any longer, and I'm going to continue to call daily for you to be removed from your position, ma'am," Boebert said.
