Branden Fraser to Play Iconic President in New Movie

The Oscar winner's next project is set.

Brendan Fraser's next film role will see the Oscar-winning actor stepping into very different shoes than those of an English teacher in The Whale or a lawyer in Killers of the Flower Moon. For his next project, Fraser will be taking on the role of a president—specifically, Dwight D. Eisenhower.

The new movie, Pressure, chronicles the tense days before the Allied Forces' D-Day invasion in June 1944, years before the general went on to become president. According to Deadline, Fraser will be joined by Andrew Scott, another lauded actor, to bring the film to life and transport audiences to the beaches of Normandy.

"In the 72 hours leading up to D-Day, all the pieces are in place except for one key element: the British weather," the movie's synopsis reads. "Britain’s chief meteorological officer James Stagg is called upon to deliver the most consequential forecast in history, locking him into a tense standoff with the entire Allied leadership. The wrong conditions could devastate the largest-ever seaborne invasion, while any delay risks German intelligence catching on."

"With only his trusted aide Captain Kay Summersby to confide in, and haunted by a catastrophic D-Day rehearsal, the final decision rests with Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower," the synopsis continues. "With only hours to go, the fate of the war and the lives of millions hang in the balance."

It's not the only movie Fraser has coming down the pike. He has two films in post-production, Brothers and Rental Family, as well as another project, Sacrifice, in pre-production. Brothers, co-starring Josh Brolin, Glenn Close, and Peter Dinklage, is set for release on Prime Video on Oct. 17.
