Tom Daley gives verdict on ‘anti-sex’ cardboard bed in Olympic Village as he prepares for fifth Games

TOM Daley tests out his “anti-sex” cardboard bed in the Olympic Village as he prepares for his fifth Games.

The gold medallist diver, 30, posted a clip showing him bouncing on it and said it was “pretty sturdy”.

The recyclable beds were first introduced at Tokyo 2020 but athletes were quick to joke they were only meant to support one person, ruling out any romantic encounters.

In addition to Tom’s test, Irish athlete Rhys McClenaghan made a short video testing out the durability of the beds.

And as a gymnast he was able to perform several different techniques to help him deliver an informed verdict.

McClenaghan jumped up and down on the bed and did his most to dismantle the cardboard beds, but to no avail.

So he decided the idea they were ‘anti-sex- beds’ was untrue.

The two-time pommel horse world champion said: “I’m at the Paris Olympic Games and they once again have these cardboard anti-sex beds.

“When I tested them last time they withstood my testing, but maybe I wasn’t rigorous enough.”

McClenaghan then carried out the tests before reaching a conclusion, saying: “No they pass the test. It’s fake, it’s fake news!”

British gymnast Louis Smith, who is a four-time Olympic medalist, replied saying: “Who needs an anti-sex bed when you have the floor ”.
