JENNINGS, La. (KLFY) -- A man is in the hospital after leading police on a high-speed chase on his motorcycle in Jennings, authorities said.

Jennings Police said Karl Monceaux II was taken to a trauma center for injuries after the chase, which started at approximately 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Officers said they attempted a traffic stop of a motorcycle rider whose bike had no visible license plate. The rider, later identified as Monceaux, did not comply, and instead took off at a high rate of speed through residential areas.

Authorities said Monceaux disregarded several stop signs while exceeding 70 mph through residential areas, and then entered La. 26, where he reached speeds of over 100 mph. The chase ended when Monceaux collided with another vehicle near the corner of La. 26 and W. South Street. He remains in a trauma center after first aid was rendered by officers and Acadian Ambulance, authorities said, and occupants of the other vehicle also required medical attention.

Investigators said Monceaux's drivers license was suspended and had no motorcycle endorsement. He was also found not to have proof of insurance or registration.

Charges for Monceaux or bond details were not released.
