India vs Pakistan T20I Series NOT Proposed at ICC Meet as PCB is Focused on Hosting 2025 Champions Trophy – REPORT
Lahore: Rumours have been rife that the Pakistan Cricket Board is interested in their national side play a T20I series against India in Colombo. The rumours were that Colombo could be looked at as a possible venue. But, none of this was proposed when the ICC met PCB in Colombo. As per PTI, the PCB has rubbished any such rumour as they are busy preparing to host the Champions Trophy next year in their country. Also, the international schedule is so packed that there is no space to squeeze in an India-Pakistan series.
“There is no such proposal on the table or under consideration because right now the biggest challenge for us is to organise the Champions Trophy in a befitting manner and we also have a packed international schedule,” PTI quotes the source as saying.
Meanwhile, the Indian team embarked on a new journey under Gautam Gambhir as the Men in Blue departed for Sri Lankan tour from Mumbai on Monday. India will play three T20Is scheduled from July 27, July 28, and July 30, followed by a three-match ODI series starting on August 1. The Pallekele International Stadium will host the T20I leg of the series, while the R Premadasa Stadium will host the 50-over matches.
Ahead of the tour, India’s newly appointed head coach, Gambhir, acknowledged the significant challenge ahead, noting that he has big shoes to fill into a role which was previously held by cricket legends Rahul Dravid and Ravi Shastri. Spotlight would be on Gambhir.
The series against SL start from July 27.
