Shiloh Jolie's Lawyer Clarifies False Reports About Name Change, Talks 'Painful Events' That Led to Decision

Shiloh Jolie recently changed her name, dropping her father Brad Pitt‘s name from her previously hyphenated surname.

The 18-year-old daughter of Angelina Jolie legally filed to drop “Pitt” from her last name two months ago and details about her name change were published in the Los Angeles Times.

News reports stated that Shiloh took out an “ad” to announce the change and now her lawyer is speaking out to clarify false reports about the change.

Shiloh Jolie did not take out an ‘ad’ announcing any name change, and any press reporting that is inaccurate,” attorney Peter Levine told Entertainment Weekly.

He continued, “As Shiloh’s attorney, I am required to publish a legal notice because the law in California requires that of anyone who wants to change their name. That legal notice was published in the Los Angeles Times, as is required.”

“The media should be more careful in their reporting, especially when covering a young adult who has made an independent and significant decision following painful events, and is merely following legal process,” he added.
