Major DIY chain with 145 stores launches huge closing down sale with up to 70% off ahead of shutting store for good
A MAJOR DIY chain has launched a huge closing-down sale with up to 70% off must-have items including garden essentials.
Homebase customers are rushing to buy discounted items at a branch in Northampton that’s shutting its doors for good in weeks.
The chain, which operates around 145 locations across the UK, will close the Riverside Retail Park branch on September 6.
Ahead of the closure, the store has launched a major sale, with discounts of up to 70%.
Discounted items include lamps, chairs, plants with pots, sun chairs, and even garden sofas.
Homebase customers who visited the Northampton shop shared some of the deals they found on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group.
One posted a photo of a garden sofa, originally priced at £1,100, now costing £660 thanks to a 40% discount.
The shopper also shared images of some table lamps with 60% off their original price.
These include the Bellano table lamp, now costing £12, down from the original price of £30.
Homebase also reduced the price of the Face table lamp to £14, down from £35.
If you’re in the market for some new chairs for your garden, the DIY chain is also selling folding chairs for £10.50 with a 30% discount on the original price of £15.
Another shopper also spotted a huge 70% discount on a Country Living bedding set, now costing just £21, down from £72.
And Homebase slashed the price of its Novelty animal planter, which includes a small artificial succulent and usually costs £3, to £1.
A person commented on the Facebook post: “My parents went a few weeks back. Need to go again!!”
Another asked: “did they have much left in there? might pop down riverside and have a look.”
The Northampton store was popular in the community and remained open for around 30 years.
It’s understood the closure came following the landlord’s plans to transform the site into two separate units, leaving the company saddened in being forced to depart.
The retailer offered a variety of indoor furniture, paint, tolls and ideas and advice, along with gardening goods.
Angelika Buszko Estate Agent posted to Facebook: “Store closing down = big sales.
“Anyone undergoing a home refurb or just fancy a nice new lamp or garden pots? All in discounted prices 10%-50%!!”

Scanner apps are useful to have on your phone. Trolley.co.uk app has a scanner that you can use to compare prices on branded items when out shopping.
Bargain hunters can also use B&M’s scanner in the app to find discounts in-store before staff have marked them out.
And always check if you can get cashback before paying which in effect means you’ll get some of your money back or a discount on the item.
Just weeks ago, Homebase announced it will be pulling down the shutters on its branch in Cambridge Retail Park.
The store will be closed on September 13, a spokesperson said.
A massive closing down sale has now been launched at the store.
Posters and banners that said “all stock reduced” and “everything must go”, have been plastered outside the shop’s front.
