Watch the moment my bum broke the internet on my daughter’s school sports day – I still get chatted up in Tesco over it

TWO years after going viral for her accidental sports day mooning, a mum-of-two still receives messages from admirers.

Katie Hannaford’s bum was all over the internet after she faceplanted while wearing a dress during a parents race.

Since the incident in June 2022, the 38-year-old revealed that she still gets “at least 20 messages” each day about the video.

Katie revealed that she also gets recognised whenever she’s out and about, even while shopping in Tesco.

According to the home décor business owner, she is often asked if she is “the mum that fell over at sports day.”

She added that she was even once recognised while on holiday in Turkey.

“It’s unreal how many messages I get – from all over the world,” said Katie, who is from Basildon, Essex.

“Men from Brazil seem to love me, as well as Cape Verde, America and Canada.”

Katie described her online interactions as mostly pleasant, explaining that most people who reach out do so out of admiration.

“They do seem to all be genuine real people as well – sometimes asking if it’s me in that video, sometimes calling me beautiful,” she said.

However, not all of Katie’s direct message requests are quite as respectful.

“I still get a lot of people asking if I have OnlyFans as well – absolutely not,” she said.

She added that messages are largely from people complimenting her bum and asking her on dates.

The single mum never accepts the offers, but says she finds it entertaining that people still remember her.

Katie explained that her daughters are also entertained by the ongoing attention she gets.

“The girls found it funny and still talk about the video all the time – but they agreed they would never let me do another race after last time,” she said.

Her youngest daughter Beau, now 10, convinced her to run in the race.

What is the parents race in sports day?

Many primary schools across the UK mark the summer term with an annual sports day for all students, and sometimes parents.

While the children compete in everything from egg-and-spoon races to three-legged races, there parents are often welcome to view the competitions.

However, some schools have made it tradition to host a parents race on the day.

This usually involves a group of mums and dads attempting to sprint a short distance while their children look on.

The young girl was left red-faced when her mum tripped, causing her dress to go over her head – exposing her underwear.

After the ordeal Katie swore she would never run another parents race – which her daughters are grateful for.

Despite a video of her bum being seen by millions around the world, Katie said she was never embarrassed – and has no regrets.

In fact, she said it’s had a “real positive impact” on her to this day.

“I didn’t used to do the races with my youngest because I really struggled with my confidence,” Katie said.

“But I did it this one year and the video went viral – it actually gave me a massive confidence boost.”

She pointed out that her daughters’ fond memories of the incident mean more than any embarrassment she might have felt.

“It made me realise – it doesn’t matter if people laugh, if you make a fool of yourself, so what? You’re making memories,” she said.

“I still laugh at the video whenever it comes up on my memories and my daughters still talk about it all the time.

“It reaffirmed my confidence – that video taught me it’s OK to let my hair down without caring what people think.”
