Biden withdrawal speech set for Wednesday: report

President Joe Biden will give a formal speech announcing his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race, reports the Washington Post's Tyler Pager.

Biden announced on Sunday that he would not be seeking a second term in office and instead through his support behind Vice President Kamala Harris has his successor.

Biden has been under major pressure from fellow Democrats to exit the race ever since he gave a faltering debate performance against former President Donald Trump that raised questions about his ability to handle the job of the presidency for the next four years.

Although Biden initially resisted calls to drop out, he eventually relented after Democratic leaders such as Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) made it clear that he should exit the race.
