Tottenham are on the search for a new striker

GiveMeSport claim that sources suggest that Tottenham are set to make a ‘lowball’ offer for Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

Tottenham are yet to dip into the transfer market to replace Harry Kane after the club-record goalscorer left North London to join Bayern Munich on the cusp of the 2023/24 Premier League season.

Ange Postecoglou had little time to seek a replacement for Kane last summer and instead had to rely on club captain Heung-min Son playing through the middle, along with Richarlison also sharing the responsibility on occasion.

The report claims that Tottenham are planning on adding further new faces to their squad before the window slams shut, but have not yet made a serious approach to Brentford.

The Bees have dropped their valuation of the England international to £50million with a lack of interest in the player, who is now within the final twelve months of his contract.

West Ham and Spurs are frontrunners for Ivan Toney

Toney is said to be more likely to want to join Tottenham over the Hammers due to the fact that Spurs have not actively been negotiating deals for alternative transfer targets since they are confident his price tag could decrease further.

A potential move for Toney, however, could depend on whether Richarlison departs the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with the Brazilian said to be the subject of interest from Saudi Arabia (Ariyadhiah).

West Ham are reportedly chasing other forward targets at present with a Toney considered to be a back-up option if they are unable to land those towards the top of their shortlist.

It is a shame that Sergio Reguilon‘s wage demands are a problem for Brentford, otherwise he could have been a great option to be a makeshift in a deal to bring Toney to N17.

Toney did not exactly have the best of times upon his return from his gambling ban last season, at the stats below highlight, but he is Premier League-proven and a deal of around £40m could be decent business, unless the club decide to move for Lille’s Jonathan David.
