Off-White Drops the VULC 779 Sneaker Inspired By Skate Culture

The VULC 779 takes its name inspiration from 815/779, the area code of Abloh’s hometown, Rockford City, Illinois, near Chicago.

Off-White is dropping its latest sneaker creation, the VULC 779, inspired by the global skateboarding community.

The sneaker, designed by the brand’s late founder Virgil Abloh, is imbued with an appreciation for skate culture, boasting key design elements that aim to protect the parts of the shoe that come in contact with the board. 

The sneaker’s toe cap, heel cup and sole feature strategic material and color-blocking spanning the launch’s four colorways; “Black-Black,” “Army Green-Blue,” “White-Beige” and “Dark Grey-Ice.” The sneaker is the epitome of Off-White, merging street-style inspiration with unique nods to individuals and bustling subcultures.

The VULC 779 takes its name inspiration from 815/779, the area code of Abloh’s hometown, Rockford City, Illinois, near Chicago. The shoe will travel during a pre-launch from Selfridges in London to Four Amsterdam and Milan at END. Each stop will highlight the sneaker’s skateboarding roots, bringing together like-minded individuals in the name of the sport and fashion.

The VULC 779 sneaker is available now at Selfridges in London from July 11 through Aug. 8, globally at www.off—white.com, in Off-White stores and via select retail partners worldwide starting Sept. 2024.
