Simone Biles' Husband Allowed to Leave NFL Training Camp, Watch Her Compete in Paris Olympics

Simone Biles is projected to have some major victories at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics as she prepares to compete for Team USA in gymnastics.

Her husband, Jonathan Owens, plays in the NFL for the Chicago Bears, and most players are required to be at training camp every day. The Chicago Bears are currently in their training camp, and are not usually allowed absences as they prepare for the regular season, which kicks off on September 5.

However, the Bears are allowing Jonathan to travel to Paris and take seven days off to watch his wife compete live.

Now, the Bears head coach is speaking out about the decision.

When asked why they’re letting Jonathan go to France, Matt Eberflus told ESPN, “Just because we respect the Olympics. That is a big deal. And he’s just supporting the one he loves the most. And I think that’s so cool that he gets to do that.”

He added, “We welcome that, and it’s going to be awesome. Go USA.”
