Single Olympians can ‘couple up’ with other athletes at Love Island-style bar in teetotal village

ATHLETES looking for love at the Paris Games can strike gold — at a bar that looks inspired by the Love Island Villa.

The swish club comes complete with daybeds — with room for two — and a DJ to set the mood.

It has made an impression with some of those competing in the French capital.

Australian tennis players Daria Saville and Ellen Perez posted a video walking around the beach-style venue, captioning it on Instagram: “There is a club in the Olympic Village.”

The venue is teetotal, as with past Olympic Games, with non-alcoholic Corona Cero being served up.

But US rugby star Ilona Maher boasted online: “I cannot wait to get into the Olympic Villa, it’s gonna be a crazy summer.”

When a fan pointed out on TikTok it was the Olympics and not a dating show, she retorted: “Yeah, I guess if we wanna say that. But I still wanna try to couple-up early on.

“It is the early days but I’m there to find love.”

She later said a pal had had “success”.

Organisers are handing out 200,000 condoms to the athletes.

They are branded with messages about consent, and one saying: “No need to win a gold medal to wear it.”

US rapper Snoop Dogg will be one of the torchbearers to carry the Olympic flame on Friday before the opening ceremony.
