Topeka Zoo ready to launch 'Love Your Topeka Zoo Giving Day' campaign

TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Topeka Zoo is launching the Love Your Topeka Zoo Giving Day on July 24, 2024.

Last year, the zoo surpassed its goal of $25,000 and this year, it hopes to do the same. A zoo spokesperson told us that gifts of any size make an impact at the zoo.

Donations can be made online or in person tomorrow at the zoo. The photo below has a QR code that takes you directly to the online donation page, or you can follow this link.

This year, you can choose where your money goes. There are four different areas in which you can decide where to donate, those areas are:

  • Masterplan: helps fund future projects.
  • Animal Care: helps provide proper emotional, physical, and psychological care for the animals.
  • Education: engage, inspire and empower the next generation.
  • Conservation and sustainability: helps five sustainability initiatives form the Zoo's strategic plan framework.

27 News spoke with Cynthia McCarvel, the Director of Development at the Topeka Zoo, about choosing where your donations go.

"This is just really an opportunity for people who love the zoo and wanna support us," McCarvel said. "To pick an area that they are passionate about that will support us."

Even though this is a day of giving, it is also a day of giving back to donors with exciting incentives. The zoo provided us with a document with all of the prize information:

  • All donors will be entered to win an exclusive Hippo Feeding for a party of six.
  • Donors who give at the zoo will receive a “Love Your Topeka Zoo” rubber bracelet.
  • Donors giving $100 or more will receive a “Love Your Topeka Zoo” tote bag.
  • Donors giving $250 or more will be entered into a drawing for one of three behind-the-scenes Pronghorn experiences for a party of six.
  • Donors giving $500 or more will be entered into a drawing for one of two behind-the-scenes/breakfast opportunities in the Giraffe and Friends exhibit for a party of six.
