Warren Co. opens online portal for residents to report storm damage

Warren County has created an online portal for residents to report damage from the July 18 tornadoes and severe storm.

LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Warren County has created an online portal for residents to report damage from the July 16 tornadoes and severe storms. The county's Office of Emergency Services is seeking financial aid for residents, and the portal is a user-friendly way for homeowners to report how much they will spend on cleanup and repairs.

The county created a QR code for residents to access the portal easily. Anyone with questions can contact the Office of Emergency Services by calling (518) 761-6240.

Gov. Kathy Hochul requested a federal emergency declaration for counties around the state, including Warren County, on Saturday, July 20. Although the declaration only covers roadways and infrastructure, Warren County said it could be expanded to include county residents.

Warren County Director of Emergency Services, Ann Marie Mason, said gathering information from residents about storm damage is the first step to seeing if the state will qualify for individual assistance. "We know there are a lot of folks who suffered damage that is not being covered by insurance, and we are doing all that we can to document it so that we can show a need for financial aid for individuals,” Mason said.
