'Wonderfully weird': Serendipity 3 to open new eatery in Times Square

Serendipity 3, the iconic New York City restaurant, is set to open a new location in Times Square, featuring a bolder, more contemporary take on its signature whimsical aesthetic.

TIMES SQUARE, Manhattan (PIX11) — Serendipity 3, the whimsical New York City restaurant beloved by Andy Warhol and Marilyn Monroe, announced the opening of a new Times Square location on Tuesday. 

The eatery is renowned for its "World Famous Frrrozen Hot Chocolate" and its "Outrageous Banana Split." It holds eight Guinness World Records. 

"As we celebrate our 70th anniversary this year, we couldn't think of a more perfect way to highlight this benchmark than expanding in the place that started it all– our home, New York City, said Joe Calderone, Serendipty3'a chief creative officer. "Serendipity3 is a classic NYC destination for ice cream lovers, tourists, and locals alike, and we are so honored to move into the Theater District. This new location signifies a modernized take on our wonderfully weird, eclectic Upper East Side restaurant, and we're excitedly preparing to welcome thousands of new customers into our W. 47th location later this year."

"I can confirm it will be later this year," a spokesperson for the restaurant's new location wrote in an email to PIX11 News. The space aims to be a bolder, more contemporary take on Serendipity3's signature funky, eclectic aesthetic." 

Loved by New Yorkers and celebrities alike, this will be the eatery's first and only location outside its famed, colorful Upper East Side location, making it a truly unique experience for all in New York.
