People Are Saying the Most Vile Things About Why Kamala Harris Doesn’t Have Biological Kids ... Because of Course They Are

Kamala Harris is being declared unfit to run for president because she has never given birth. But, guess what? Neither has any other president.

Vice President Kamala Harris is coming under fire due to the state of her uterus because of course that’s what the misogynistic trolls would be up to after she became the presumed Democratic nominee for the 2024 presidential election.

Should we even be surprised?

The bigots are now claiming Harris wouldn’t be a good president because she doesn’t have any biological children. And if we don’t laugh at the absurdity, we’ll scream! (And yes, we’re doing both!) Although we probably shouldn’t admit that because the whole problem with women *eye roll* is that they’re emotional. Any moment now, if it hasn’t started already, some a-hole will start revving up that rhetoric again — saying Harris can’t lead when her female hormones could send her into a bout of hysteria at any moment.

Anyway! Let’s get back to the probable presidential nominee’s reproductive health, because that apparently has certain folks in a ridiculous tizzy. Child-free Republican pundit Laura Loomer posted on X (formerly Twitter) yesterday saying, “A woman who has no biological children of her own should not be allowed to make decisions in the White House for your children.”

“It’s time for Republicans to start talking about [Harris’] sexual history and the reason why she likely doesn’t have any children of her own. I’m willing to bet she’s had so many abortions that she damaged her uterus,” Loomer wrote. ” … Republicans need to run with this messaging and ask why a woman with no kids of her own and just a scarred up uterus is so obsessed with wanting to kill your babies.”

“Kamala has zero investment in the future but she wants to determine our future,” she continued.

And there is so much utter BS there. First, let’s address what Loomer didn’t bother to fact-check: Elective abortions generally “don’t cause fertility issues or problems with future pregnancies,” per Mayo Clinic. So there’s no reason to think Harris doesn’t have biological kids because of abortions (which Loomer has absolutely no basis for saying happened in the first place). Do Republicans really want to “run with” this blatantly false messaging?

Next up on the fact-check express: I barely want to dignify Loomer’s claim that someone without kids has zero investment in the future with a response, but we need to note that Harris does have kids.

The vice president shares adult stepkids Ella and Cole Emhoff (who endearingly call her “Momala!) with her husband Doug Emhoff. In a poignant 2019 essay for Elle, she called them her “endless source of love and pure joy,” finishing the essay with, “I can say one thing with certainty, my heart wouldn’t be whole, nor my life full, without them.” So to act like the stepmom-stepkid relationship isn’t real and meaningful is almost as vile as acting like women without biological children have no “investment” in the future.

So what we’re supposed to take away from that tweet is because Harris doesn’t have biological children, the future is bleak and meaningless? She lives a sad life wherein she has no interest in the coming days because a lack of pregnancies stops her from feeling truly fulfilled? What in the Harrison Butker?!

Far-right journalist Cassandra MacDonald echoed Loomer’s sentiment, saying, “It’s so weird that Kamala has no children. Too busy ladder climbing I guess. I don’t believe people without kids should be running the country. No actual skin in the game.”

But it seems that it’s only “weird” when it’s liberal candidates who are running with “no actual skin in the game.” Republican governor of Alabama Kay Ivey wasn’t met with opposition for not having kids. There was no discussion of former Republican Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice being child-free because of a “scarred up uterus.”

The double standard is noted, trolls!

And we all know how this would play out if Harris did have young kids. People would be clutching their pearls over the thought that she wasn’t doting over them 24/7. “So now Kamala has no children so she’s unfit but if she had children they would say she doesn’t have the time,” one person wrote on X. “Make up your f*cking minds idiots.”

So where do we go from here? We buckle down and practice deep breathing, because you know the misogyny is only going to ramp up to a fever pitch as we near November. And we also keep retweeting actress Janey Godley who had a simple and perfect message to all the bigots:

“No president of America has ever given birth — I don’t understand why it’s suddenly an issue.”
