My nasty neighbor left a rude note about my mailbox placement – he messed with the wrong girl, now I have a petty plan

A NEW homeowner has shared how she dealt with a negative neighbor encounter concerning her mailbox.

Instead of letting them win, she handled the neighbor drama with a smart plan and got her way in the end.

Ashley Brooke (@ashley.brooke22) is 25 and recently purchased her first home.

She shared in a viral TikTok video with over eight million views her neighbor’s response to not only her moving to the neighborhood but also her mailbox placement.

She explained that he left her a handwritten note calling out her crooked mailbox.

NO NONSENSE NEIGHBOR

“Mailboxes go in a straight line! Maybe you should be a little more thoughtful of the people who have lived here 25+ years. Don’t move in and be a problem and make obstacles for others,” it read.

Ashley didn’t take her words lightly and explained in the caption that she “messed with the wrong b***h.”

“POV: Your nasty neighbor doesn’t know you don’t take s**t from anybody,” the on-screen text read.

She added in the caption that her mailbox had been up for only two days.

She had just moved to the neighborhood and was planning on moving it back when she noticed that it was sticking out, but now she no longer wants to.

“After being disrespected by someone who doesn’t even know me, it’s staying,” she said.

Ashley decided to write a long-winded and carefully-worded letter setting her boundaries.

LEGAL LESSON

“To whom it may concern, maybe you should be more considerate and thoughtful of new people moving into the neighborhood who are just trying to make a life for themselves,” she began.

“I am 25 living in my first house for which I have worked hard for. I have no intention of coming here to ‘be a problem.’ A mailbox is no excuse for you to be disrespectful and unwelcoming to me.”

You don’t know anything about me as you’ve never attempted to speak to me other than the nasty letter you left in my mailbox. Had you been nicer and more respectful, I might have actually moved it.”

“However, the post office and mail carrier have no problems with the location of it. Therefore, it will remain where it’s at.”

She proceeded to share further details about herself including her full-time job, how she doesn’t party and “minds her own business.”

“Be thankful I moved here and not a crackhead that would cause you real problems,” she concluded.

She also attached an additional paper to the letter with legal information.

“Mailboxes are considered federal property protected by rules set forth by the United States Postal Service,” it read.

“Because of this, only authorized persons (mail carriers and the owner of the property of the mailbox) are legally allowed to place things into and retrieve items from the mailbox.”

Despite all Ashley went through with her rowdy neighbor, she showed in a follow-up video that still ended up fixing it with her family’s help.

She admitted that it wasn’t perfect and the post had to sit back further but she was “happy and healthy” in her place.

ROW REACTIONS

Viewers weren’t too happy about the decision.

“Girl I was like ‘hell yeah go get that lady’ lol and then I see this lol,” one commented.

“Is this honestly what the fuss is all about?” another said.

“As someone who just moved in and has already had a lady TWO houses down say the renovation trash is an ‘eye sore’ in MY BACKYARD AND a peeping old man in front of us. Stand. Your. Ground,” a woman said.

“You did the right thing. Writing the letter as you did was also awesome and hopefully she understands and will apologize and be more neighborly!” a TikTok user chimed in.
