FX finally blesses us with a What We Do In The Shadows season 6 premiere date

Goodbyes are always hard, so you already know it will be next to impossible to bid farewell to one of the best TV comedies in recent memory. But at least before What We Do In The Shadows leaves us for good, we’ll get 11 episodes of the Staten Island-set adventures of our favorite fictional vampires. FX has confirmed that the sixth and final season of WWDITS premieres this October. The series, which premiered in 2019, is based on creator Jemaine Clement’s 2014 film of the same name (which he made with Taika Waititi). Over the past five seasons, the FX original has crafted a legacy of its own, so maybe it’s a good thing it's going out on a high note. WWDITS recently received eight Emmy nominations for 2023's season five, including Outstanding Comedy Series. It helps that this cast bloody rules; Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, Kayvan Novak, Harvey Guillen, Mark Proksch, and Kristen Schaal all return to lead the show’s last chapter. In season six, Guillermo (Guillen) has recovered from his brief stint as a vampire and ventures outside of the Vampire Mansion again. Naturally, his former master Nandor (Novak) follows him around (might Nandermo shippers get their wish before the show ends?) and joins him at the office where he works. Nadja (Demetriou) also finds a place in the 9-5 world, living out her dreams as an ‘80s working girl, with a hairdo and outfits to fall in line with this persona. Meanwhile, in the mansion, Laszlo (Berry) has set up a laboratory to finish a years-long mission of “creating” a human, and he gets help from Colin Robinson (Proksch).  Their lives shake up even more once their roommate awakens from a 50-year slumber, helping the vampires realize they haven’t achieved the goal of taking over the world. Well, except for their street, and part of Ashley Street, of course. WWDITS is clearly going to use this subplot to make our crew realize they might’ve settled into a humble human routine, and that they like it. (Jackie Daytona could’ve told them that.)Speaking of, let’s hope Emmy nominee Berry brings this iconic season two persona back in some form before the credits roll on WWDITS forever. Elsewhere, the show will bring Doug Jones’ The Baron back, take the vampires on a trip to New Hampshire, and see them conjure a demon. Plus, EP Paul Simms recently told Entertainment Weekly that more fun guest stars will grace the season. Seeing this comedy leave will be awful, but at least it's shaping up to be an entertaining ride. What We Do In The Shadows season six premieres with three episodes on October 21 on FX at 10 p.m. ET, and they'll stream on Hulu the next day.
