Kamala Harris not among 'brilliant American women in politics': Ex-U.K. prime minister

Former U.K. Prime Minister Liz Truss thinks putting Kamala Harris on the top of the ballot will have disastrous consequences for Democrats, similar to the ouster her country’s conservative party suffered this year.

“I think there have been some brilliant American women in politics but I don't think Kamala Harris is one of them,” Truss said.

Truss, who served as prime minister for less than two months before stepping down amid a government crisis, joined Fox News host Neil Cavuto on Tuesday to share her thoughts on Harris garnering the Democratic nomination.

Truss noted how failing to control immigration and inflation resulted in a major backlash against the U.K.’s Tory party, and she sees similar problems brewing in the United States.

Kamala Harris is going to change none of that,” Truss said. “She’s been there the last four years. She’s responsible for those policies.”

Truss blamed the Democrats' obsession with “identity politics” for obscuring the selection process in the aftermath of Joe Biden’s departure from the race.

“What I hate is identity politics, We shouldn't care if someone is an ethnic minority. We shouldn't care if they are a woman,” Truss said. “We should be caring about – can they do the job? And she has not proven she can do the job.”

Come Election Day, Truss predicts the result will be “a landslide against the incumbent party because they have not delivered for the American people.”
