WATCH: Dash cam video shows driver hitting, flipping another car in high-speed chase
PURCELL, Okla. (KFOR) – Purcell police arrested a man after he led officers on a high-speed chase and hit an innocent driver.
Ricardo Campaner was charged with DUI, felony eluding, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of an injury accident. Police said it started when an officer spotted Campaner driving a white Chevy Avalanche, going more than 20 miles an hour over the speed limit.
In dash camera video from the Purcell Police Department, the officer can be seen spinning his patrol unit around and flipping on his lights as the driver picked up speed.
"(He) just ran the red light," said the officer. "We’re at 90 mph."
The chase, which lasted around three miles, reached speeds of nearly 100 miles per hour. Campaner even hit a median at one point but kept going. The driver rear-ended another driver on the roadway, which sent the car flipping off the side of the street.
The officer can be seen stopping his patrol unit in the middle of the road and checking on the woman inside. She was later taken to an Oklahoma City hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
"She still is in a lot of pain and has some things to go through," said James Bolling, assistant chief for the Purcell Police Department.
Other police units continued following Campaner who kept going.
"He traveled on about another 100, 150 yards before he crashed out into the parking lot near the Cash Savers," said Bolling.
Campaner took off running from the scene of the crash but he did not make if far. Officers arrested him just a few feet away.
