Contractor pleads guilty to grand larceny

A Capital Region contractor, who faces multiple grand larceny charges in Albany and Saratoga Counties, is facing new charges in Greene County.

CATSKILL, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Capital Region contractor, who faces multiple grand larceny charges in Albany and Saratoga Counties, is facing new charges in Greene County. Dakota Smith is accused of spending money he was given for a home renovation on personal expenses.

Smith was paid more than $100,000 to do a job, but he allegedly used $71,000 on himself. Prosecutors said he also never completed the project.

He pleaded guilty on June 5 and is expected to be sentenced in October.
